May to September gives the longest days and full ferry service. September delivers autumn colour, June the Norwegian white nights, and winter brings the aurora to inland villages like Skjolden and Lærdal.

Getting there
Fly to Bergen (BGO) or Oslo (OSL). From Bergen, the E16 highway reaches Flåm in ~3 hours. From Oslo, the Bergen Railway to Myrdal + Flåm Railway is one of the world's great train journeys.
Getting around
The fjord is a highway: prioritise our 100% electric ferry network. Rent an EV in Bergen or Sogndal — charging is fast and plentiful along the fjord.
What to pack
Waterproof shell, warm mid-layer (even July), sturdy boots, and a swimsuit — fjord sauna culture is real. A thermos and reusable water bottle are considered civil.
Travel responsibly
Stay in eco-certified hotels, take the ferry, buy local (brown cheese from Undredal, honey from Balestrand), and give stave churches — some 800 years old — the quiet they deserve.
